Buddhists: proper offerings?

Just a quick question. In my practice of meditation, I light incense as an offering when I meditate. I am somewhat limited in space, so I have no way to put in place to develop an altar or anything. I would like suggestions on what would make a good offer to the Buddha, outside of incense? If you could tell me about your daily offering, this could help give me a better perspective on my own practice. As always, respect the poster. Harassment will be reported. Thank you! Mar: You're missing the point of this teaching. David: Thank you for the reply – I never said * that * Buddha, I thought that was self-explanatory. And thank you for the comment on sandalwood, I've never been a fan of it to start.

On an altar in the house, a practitioner makes four offerings to Buddha: Fire – Symbolized by the candles on the air – symbolized by the incense of the water – symbolized by a bowl of clear, Earth pure water – symbolized by an offering of food (rice, fruit) Most of us have no formal altars and if we adjust bids accordingly. For example, on my altar (which is small enough), I have only one burner of incense (air) and a dried lotus pod (earth). All altar or statue of Buddha (or bodhisattva) is simply a reminder of the aspirations and inspirations that led us to practice and support our efforts. In this way, our altars, however humble, seek us to give ourselves entirely – to our practice and the world. I wrote on my altar yesterday on my blog. That being said, there are steps an individual can take to relieve and maybe eliminate the emotional turbulence that often accompanies panic and anxiety attacks. With a very simple, natural technique called brainwave entrainment, you can get these sensations and feelings under control and put your life back in order.
