You've recently noticed that you often forget a lot and the worse you do not know exactly what causes it. Before going straight to the resolution, there should be a basic understanding of this short-term memory loss of memory or working methods. Beginning with short term memory is the ability to retain certain information in a period of twenty seconds or as short term memory loss usually occurs in the manner of unusual forgetfulness.
For some people, short term memory loss is enough to worry them. But there is still hope for this condition because a study conducted by the University Yale has shown that short term memory loss can be reversed by using a regimen that produces long-lasting effects. The results of the study which was led by Stacy Castner may eventually pave the way for new therapeutic strategies for people who have short term memory loss.
Meanwhile previous studies show that drug use in long-term antipsychotic treatment of disorders such as schizophrenia reduces the amount of D1 receptors in cortical neurons. D1 receptors are regarded as one of the dopamine receptors that directly function of memory control. On the other hand, the results of the latest study show that long-term treatment using drugs antipsychotics impairs memory specifically if the treatment has lasted several months. However, according to the study of memory impairment is reversed when the D1 receptors were stimulated by a D1 agonist. The ABT-431 is the agonist used in the study stimulate D1 receptors and is still experimental so it is not yet available.
The scientists envisage the return of the short-term memory, which is lost usually because of aging and diseases such as Parkinson's and schizophrenia, very important because this short-term memory that briefly holds information in mind while in the process of determining an action.
The treatment proved managed to solve short-term memory loss only took a short course of nearly 4 weeks to get a positive result. Castner even mentioned it may be shorter and still have the same effect. As a matter of fact the improvement of memory beyond the months and years pairs after the last treatment. This means that the circuits involved in processing memory had been restored at least be semi-permanently or for good. This information is the result of tests performed on 6 primates but ABT-431 was not used on any time of the man.
Although the drug has not been released in the market and is therefore not yet available for consumers with prospective trials establishing also the fact that ABT-431 may indeed stimulate D1 receptors in humans and restore the short-term memory, we might have a chance to have this drug in the market soon enough. But this will occur only after scientists have shown ABT-431 is also effective in the restoration of short-term memory in humans.
